PROGRAMME OF EVENTS, 2008/092008
Thursday July 17 - Coffee Morning hosted by the President of the Society.
Friday September 12, at 7.30 pm "Memories are made of this"
Members and visitors are invited to bring along something that sparks off a memory of Wales - it could be a photo, a letter, a book, an ornament, a piece of jewellery etc that has associations with Wales. It could be a family heirloom, or an item acquired on a visit. Come and share what memories it brings back for you!
Friday October 10, at 7.30 pm - Harvest Supper
This year, we're going to bring in a fish and chip supper and serve it with a glass of cider. There will be entertainment as well.
Friday November 14 - Lunch party
We've decided that the November meeting should be in the middle of the day - to avoid the inclement evenings this time of year. A number of venues are being considered; check back for news nearer the date.
Friday December 12, at 7.30 - Christmas Celebration
We are looking forward to continuing our tradition of seasonal readings and songs - probably with mince pies and mulled wine!
2009
Friday January 15, at 2.30 - Bees Abroad/Gwenyn Tramor
Another meeting retimed according to the time of year. We are looking forward to this talk by Brian Durk.
Friday February 13 at 7.30 - Noson Lawen
Back to our usual evening slot for our annual Noson Lawen. Come with a poem, recitation, story, song, musical performance - or even a dance! Perfection is not expected! Just join in, in the spirit of "an evening of fun, like used to take place round the piano, or in the parlour"
March 2 at 7.30 - St David's Day Dinner
We are anticipating our customary menu of Welsh Lamb or Salmon or a Vegetarian Option - with Scrumptious Sweets, and Wine - of course! There will be a full programme of entertainment, and the traditional toasts and greetings from/to other Welsh Societies round the world.
Friday April 3 at 7.30 - President's Evening
Always a delightful surprise!
Friday May 8 at 7.30 - Annual General Meeting
Come and help shape the Society for the coming year.
Friday June 19 at 7.30 - Visiting Speaker
We are in the final stages of arranging this meeting, and hope to welcome a notable speaker from Carmarthenshire!
August 14 - to be arranged.
You will be very warmly welcomed! Croeso cynnes i bawb!
